The Vaalwater Centre now offers virtual Information Technology – End User Computing training.

As a result of the various lockdowns in South Africa throughout 2021 and the risks associated with conducting classes within a classroom environment, the Centre started offering virtual training until June 2021.

This programme benefited 40 students, whilst also providing a viable business model for the sustainability of the IT Centre at Vaalwater. We are grateful for CSI funding received from Barloworld and iLAB, which was utilized to implement more online IT related programmes at the Centre. These included facilitating Grades 11 from a local high school in Vaalwater to attend Computer Applications Technology classes and running of a basic computer training programme that benefitted Grade 7 pupils from the local primary schools among other programmes rolled out during the year

Thanks to the generous Skills Development funding received from G3G (a groupelephant.com business), the ICT centre was able to employ 3 members of staff who will remain responsible for the successful deployment of these various ICT related training programmes throughout the year.

The ERP funded and supported Waterberg Waves FM continued to operate successfully throughout the year. Apart from the daily ERP programme, Hlago ya Africa, hosted by Leticia Mahlatji, the radio station also managed to showcase and celebrate various monthly calender days, which led to the community being educated on a number of issues that directly affect them.
