16 000 hectors of this land occurs inside Madikwe Nature Reserve under the ownership control of the North West Government while 10 000 hectors is outside Madikwe Nature Reserve.
Unlike many other communities, Barokologadi took a decision not to settle on the land but to use it for development projects that would generate income and bring about jobs for them and surrounding communities. Agriculture, Conservation and Ecotourism were identified as key projects to pursue. Further to this, and in acknowledgment that they do not have the required capital to invest in developing this land, Barokologadi reached out to the ERP for a partnership and support in developing their land. The ERP, driven by its vision of conserving and protecting threatened elephants and rhinos through a model that incorporates poverty alleviation and creation of sustainable economic opportunities for communities, did not hesitate to partner with this community.

In the remote village of Ndumo, in KwaZulu-Natal, on the Mozambique Border, the number of OVCs has grown at an alarming rate over the past years, as a result of rampant HIV/AIDS, related communicable diseases such as TB and Covid-19 affecting both adults and children.
Currently, Ndumo Schools Orphans Project feeds over 400 orphans per month, along with providing other essential items such as clothing, blankets, and personal items. But the village of Ndumo has more than 2,000 hungry children without any aid!
